Hawaii State, Annual GWh Hours (2000 - 2015)

Energy efficiency programs and renewable generation are effectively reducing the amount of fossil fuel used to generate Hawaii's electricity. Part of the reduction in fuel use is the result of energy efficiency programs and part is the result of using renewable sources of energy rather than fossil fuels for energy production. Despite growing population and growing economic activity, Hawaii's fossil fuel use for electric energy generation decreased 27% between 2005 and 2015.
